I put my flash drive through the washing machine. My portfolio images were in it, my grad paper was also in it, my work from my digital class was in it also. After I panicked for a minute, I calmed down and figured out I could do it all over again. Thank God I had my images already uploaded. It would have been a disaster! Well, lessons learned. Now I need a new flash drive, preferably one over 1GB.

Yesterday, I went to a workshop–Loose and Juicy Landscapes by Robert Burridge. It was quite fun. Bob Burridge was entertaining. He had a carefree attitude about him and it shoes through his work. Yesterday, he thought us some of the techniques he uses to create his landscapes as well as refreshing our minds about the rules of composition. We played with our paints. A serious atmosphere did not permeate the “studio”.

When I walked up to get the white paint at the front desk, he commented on my shirt. He said he liked it. I was wearing a bright pink t-shirt. He liked the loudness of it. He also talked to me when we were doing one of his exercises. He liked what he saw. He asked if I painted a lot. I told him I mostly draw. He told me I had a confidence about me when I was painting. The fact that he talked to me made my day. I was not expecting recognition. I was not expecting a masterpiece. I just went there to have fun.

Another thing that I liked was that all artists got a bag filled with a field sketchbook, a set of brushes, and a brochure about the 2010 Jerry’s Artarama workshops. I especially like the field sketchbook as I have been thinking of a way to get a new one. The brushes are nice, but I do not have any paints in house so they will be unused for the time being.

I also took the time to walk around in the Trade Show. I say walk around because I had absolutely no money to buy anything (even though the prices were at rock bottom -_-’). So, I walked, took in the sights, tried out some of the products, and went on my way. I swore that next year that I come to the Trade Show, I will bring some MONEY!

Milk Glass

I have always wanted to create a vector glass, but have always failed. This is my first success in creating something remotely looking like a glass. I am quite satisfied. Stock image from http://www.morguefile.com/. I will post the original to the vectofor comparison. I didn’t use the live trace or the color picker. This was done by hand with no cheats. I wanted to see if I could correctly choose the color with the color picker. The vector image is not a complete replica of the original, it’s just similar.
